The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Sergeant Monred A. Bordvick (ASN: 2060138), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company C, 132d Infantry Regiment, 33d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Consenvoye, France, 8 October 1918. In charge of a flank patrol of four men during an attack, he entered a village occupied by the enemy in force, and captured forty-two prisoners and three machine guns which were holding up the advance of the battalion from the left flank. He displayed marked courage and ability as a leader.
