The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant Ernest Little (ASN: RA-42230679), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company G, 2d Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy. On 26 November 1950 near Unsan, Korea, Sergeant Little’s platoon leader was seriously wounded during a sharp fire fight with a strong hostile force. Despite exposure to intense hostile fire, he crawled and fought his way through the encircling enemy to the side of the wounded soldier and carried him back under bursting mortar shells to a place of safety. Sergeant Little’s courage, determination and selfless devotion to a fellow soldier reflect the highest credit on himself, his unit and the American Soldier.
