The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Brigadier General Linnell, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.

In the battle for Lone Tree Hill, Major Linnell led his men in capturing a hilltop that had resisted capture by other elements of the regiment for more than a week. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Major Linnell, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
