By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Captain (Infantry) Edmund C. Glenn, United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving with the 30th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, Captain Glenn took command of and conducted supporting troops from the northern edge of the Bois de Cunel to the trench line immediately to the north, making it possible by the support for our troops to hold important ground gained. His personal bravery and energy resulted in the assembly of demoralized units under heavy machine gun and shell fire and their procedure to the support of the troops occupying this important ground. He remained in command of his detachment until evacuated for wounds received in action.
