The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Captain [then Second Lieutenant] Regino Leon, Philippine Air Force, for gallantry in action at Battery James, Corregidor, in April 1942. During a heavy Japanese bombing and shelling, Captain Leon rescued several officers and enlisted men from a collapsed tunnel where they were trapped.
