Headquarters, 2d Infantry Division, General Orders No. 503 (September 3, 1951)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Private First Class Isaac Lee, Jr. (ASN: US-53033690), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company C, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy on 26 July 1951 in the vicinity of Taeusan, Korea. On that date his company was attacking strongly fortified enemy positions when the enemy launched an intense counterattack, forcing the unit to withdraw. In an effort to delay the enemy, Private Lee voluntarily remained behind and fought a rear guard action. Though the enemy pressed forward in great numbers, Private Lee stood fast, inflicting many casualties. His courage, stamina and concern for his comrades were an inspiration to the entire unit. When last seen Private Lee was covering the withdrawal of his unit. The gallantry and loyal devotion to duty demonstrated by Private Lee reflect great credit upon himself and the military service.
