The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918 (amended by an act of July 25, 1963), takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Specialist Fourth Class Ronald Alphonse Krebsbach (ASN: 472581302), United States Army, for gallantry in action. Specialist Fourth Class Krebsbach distinguished himself by heroic actions on 28 May 1970, while serving as a Medical Aidman with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 4th Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, in the Republic of Cambodia. While on a reconnaissance operation, elements of Headquarters and Headquarters Company came under intense small arms fire from a large enemy force. During the initial contact, several friendly casualties were sustained. With complete disregard for his own safety, Specialist Krebsbach moved through the hail of enemy fire to reach the wounded personnel. It was while administering first aid to a wounded Soldier that Specialist Krebsbach was fatally wounded. His valorous actions were responsible for saving the life of a fellow Soldier. The bravery, aggressiveness, and devotion to duty exhibited by Specialist Krebsbach are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, the 25th Infantry Division, and the United States Army.
