    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Robert D. Kleitz (ASN: RA-13279098), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company B, 1st Battalion, 5th Regimental Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in Korea. On 13 August 1950, during an attack on the platoon position, near Taejong-ni, Korea, Private First Class Kleitz’s helmet was shot off and he suffered a painful scalp wound. Despite his injury, he remained in position to assist in the repulsion of two enemy attacks before he was evacuated from the area. Private First Class Kleitz’s indomitable courage and exemplary devotion to duty were an inspiration to his comrades and reflect great credit upon himself and uphold the highest traditions of the Military Service of the United States.
