    gallantry in action against the enemy while serving with Company L, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, in action on 13 March 1951, near Yongdu-ri, Korea. When Company L was ordered to attack and secure Hill 651, a steep, tortuous commanding terrain feature which the enemy was using as a main line of resistance, the assaulting force was limited to only one squad, due to the narrow razorback ridges that confronted the only route of approach. As the 3d Squad pressed forward in the attack, Private Jordan saw his squad leader wounded by a burst of machine gun fire from a concealed position on the hill. Without hesitation, he moved to the front of the squad and, despite the intense fire that pinned his comrades down, located the enemy pillbox 150 yards up the craggy terrain. Crawling and inching his way up the rocky ground, under a scathing hail of bullets, Private Jordan reached an advantageous position to the rear of the deadly emplacement and hurled six hand grenades into the embrasure. This action silenced the hostile machine gun nest and allowed the assaulting forces of Company L to continue an inspired attack that (Remainder of citation missing).
