The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Major (Field Artillery) Robert W. Johnson (ASN: 0-44258), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of as a member of Headquarters , 503d Field Artillery Battalion, 2d Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy from 13 to 17 February 195, in the vicinity of Chipyong-ni, Korea. Major Johnson, Executive Officer, 503d Field Artillery Battalion, was directed to proceed to Chipyong-ni to withdraw two howitzers from Battery B and place them with Battery A which had lost its howitzers at Hoengsong.
