Headquarters, 3d Infantry Division, General Orders No. 435 (September 29, 1951)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to First Lieutenant (Armor) Jerrald M. Jerram (ASN: 0-1338349), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of the Heavy Tank Company, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in Korea. On 29 June 1951, Lieutenant Jerram was Platoon leader of the Second Platoon on a tank-infantry patrol to determine enemy strength and positions. Upon approaching the village of Segok, Korea, Lieutenant Jerram, receiving word that a wounded friendly soldier who possessed valuable information was in the village, dismounted from his tank and entered the village under a heavy volume of hostile fire. Upon locating the stricken man, he, assisted by two enlisted men, removed the soldier to safety, thereby saving his life and obtaining pertinent information. Lieutenant Jerram’s gallant and courageous leadership in this action reflects great credit upon himself and the military service.
