The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class William P. Jameson (ASN: RA-133455351), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of 2d Military Police Company, 2d Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy on 1 August 1952 in the vicinity of Chorwon, Korea. On that date, Private Jameson was serving in the capacity of a Military Policeman, in the rear of a unit which was in bitter combat with a determined hostile force and in dire need of ammunition and supplies. Realizing the importance of this badly needed equipment, Private Jameson, completely disregarding personal safety, volunteered to help carry the supplies forward. In the course of this action he heard a call going out for a stretcher to evacuate a wounded comrade. Without hesitating, he re-crossed the hazardous terrain, secured a stretcher and aided in the successful evacuation of the stricken man. The gallant actions displayed by Private Jameson reflect great credit upon himself and the military service.
