The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class James A. Jameson (ASN: ER-18270493), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company F, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy on 14 February 1951 in the vicinity of Najong-ni, Korea. On that date the platoon of which Private Jameson was a member had the mission to secure an enemy-occupied hill. Private Jameson was in charge of the squad which led the platoon in the assault on the hill. Fully exposed to the intense enemy fire which met the attackers, Private Jameson rushed up the hill, firing his weapon and leading a grenade charge. When the squad received orders to withdraw, Private Jameson, although he had been wounded in the neck and shoulder, voluntarily dragged a wounded comrade to safety while still under intense enemy fire. The gallantry displayed by Private Jameson reflects great credit upon himself and the military service.
