Headquarters, 25th Infantry Division, General Orders No. 290 (November 4, 1950)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Corporal James Harvey Jackson (ASN: RA-13166361), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company C, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, I action against the enemy near Naman, Korea, on 2 September 1950. While attacking an enemy position, Corporal Jackson’s platoon was halted by intense hostile small arms and machine gun fire. Observing that an automatic rifle team was in urgent need of ammunition, Corporal Jackson made his way about the platoon position to collect ammunition from his comrades. As he started forward to the gun position, he was seriously wounded. Despite his painful wound, he continued advancing until mortally wounded. Corporal Jackson’s initiative and conspicuous bravery reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
