Humphreys (ASN: 17019471), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Battery L, 60th Coast Artillery, in action at ***, Philippine Islands, on 2 May 1942. Corporal Humphreys with intrepidity and utter disregard for his own personal safety while under constant and heavy artillery fire effected the repair and reestablishment of badly needed communications lines. Corporal Humphreys through his gallant and courageous actions rendered great service to the Command. Corporal Humphreys was wounded in this action.
