Headquarters, 25th Infantry Division, General Orders No. 31 (January 18, 1951)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant Robert W. Horner (ASN: RA-13294037), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company G, 2d Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in Korea. During the intense action of the night of 27 – 28 November 1950, near Ipsok, Korea, company communications were disrupted. Sergeant Horner proceeded some four miles over rugged, mountainous terrain which was under heavy small arms and mortar fire to obtain equipment. Returning to his unit, he completed installation of communications vital to the successful operations of the company. Sergeant Horner’s steadfast devotion to duty despite the hazards of enemy action, darkness and extreme cold, and his courage and technical ability are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
