The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Brigadier General Frederick Mercer Hopkins, Jr. (ASN: 0-11307), United States Army Air Forces, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility as Chief of the Resources Division in the Office of the Assistant Chief of Air Staff for Maintenance, Materiel and Distribution from March 1942 to June 1943; as Redistribution and Salvage Officer at Air Force Headquarters from July 1943 to April 1945, with additional duty as War Department Representative on the Facilities Committee of the War Production Board. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of General Hopkins and his dedicated contributions reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Army Air Forces.
