First Lieutenant Hill flew his RF-86 Reconnaissance airplane deep into North Korea and obtained valuable photographs of enemy installations. He was required by the nature of the terrain, to make several extremely low-level runs over the target area and was subjected to intense flak. The presence of enemy fighters in the area forced him to take violent evasive action, but First Lieutenant Hill secured the necessary photos and returned to his own base. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by First Lieutenant Hill, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
