The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private Frank B. Harris (ASN: US-52000543), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company E, 23d Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy on 8 March 1951, in the vicinity of Semeal, Korea. Private Harris was a rifleman in the assault platoon during Company E’ s attack on an enemy-held hill. As the unit advanced it was subjected to heavy enemy machine gun and small arms fire. During this action Private Harris was painfully wounded in the leg. Despite his wound he maneuvered to a position from which he could observe the enemy machine gun. When the enemy exposed himself, Private Green killed the gunner and remained in this position until the entire crew was annihilated. The gallant conduct displayed by Private Harris reflects great credit upon himself and the military service.
