The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918 (amended by an act of July 25, 1963), takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Captain (Infantry) Henry Lawson Hall, Jr. (ASN: 14698214) United States Army, for gallantry in action while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an armed hostile force while serving with Company A, 1st Battalion (Airmobile), 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile), in the Republic of Vietnam. Captain Hall distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous actions on 22 March 1970, in Phouc Long Province, Republic of Vietnam. When a squad was engaged by an enemy force, the point man was wounded. Captain Hall moved through the hostile fire and brought the man back to safety. He once again exposed himself to enemy fire as he crawled fifty meters to retrieve a needed radio. He then called for artillery and air strikes to route the enemy positions. His gallant action is in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflects great credit upon himself, his unit and the United States Army.
