(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Sergeant Willis Graydon (ASN: RA-34584524), United States Army, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action against the enemy as a member of Battery C, 61st Artillery Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, on 11 September 1950 near Waegwan, Korea. When the enemy launched a devastating artillery, mortar and small arms attack which threatened his forward observation post and nearby infantry troops, Sergeant Graydon’s radio communications with the artillery fire control center was cut off.
