The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Corporal Paul A. Graber (ASN: RA-36820632), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company A, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy on 18 May 1951, in the vicinity of Panmegi-ri, Korea. Company A was attacked by a large enemy force. Corporal Graber and two comrades were engaged in firing mortar rounds at the enemy when they realized they were surrounded. On seeing that their position was untenable, Corporal Graber led his two comrades through the encirclement after destroying their mortar and ammunition. He was last seen by his comrades fighting off the enemy with his pistol. The gallantry and loyal devotion to duty displayed by Corporal Graber reflect great credit upon himself and uphold the highest traditions of the Military Service of the United States.
