The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Corporal Bobbie E. Goode (ASN: RA-14330587), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Headquarters, 2d Battalion, 23d Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy on 26 November 1950, in the vicinity of Kujang-dong, Korea. Since Company G was attacking Hill 326 under intense enemy mortar and automatic weapons fire, it was imperative that communications be maintained with the battalion command post. Corporal Goode was a member of the wire team sent out with the rear elements of the company to lay a direct line from the battalion command post to the Company Commander of G Company. Many times the squad was pinned down by enemy fire. Corporal Goode deployed his men and engaged the enemy in a grenade battle, accounting for the death of at least five enemy. After completely annihilating the enemy troops in the vicinity, Corporal Goode rallied his men and continued the mission. The gallant conduct displayed by Corporal Goode reflects great credit upon himself and the military service.
