The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant [then Corporal] Robert D. Good (ASN: RA-17340750), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company K, 32d Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division, in action near Sokkogae, Korea. On 11 July 1953, Sergeant Good and his comrades were given the mission of counterattacking the right flank of a strategic enemy-held outpost and destroying the bunkers and enemy located there. Crawling to within five yards of an enemy-held bunker, Sergeant Good threw his grenade inside. Seeing that fire was still coming from the bunker and was holding up the advance of the unit, Sergeant Good called for his companions to throw him additional grenades. Remaining in his exposed position, Sergeant Good continued to bombard the bunker until his squad had withdrawn to safety. The gallantry displayed by Sergeant Good reflects great credit on himself and is in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service.
