Headquarters, 25th Infantry Division, General Orders No. 1225 (February 7, 1969)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918 (amended by an act of July 25, 1963), takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant First Class Pedro Rodriguez-Morales (ASN: RA-29184871), United States Army, for gallantry in action. Sergeant First Class Rodriguez-Morales distinguished himself with Company E, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, in the Republic of Vietnam. While established in Fire Support Base MAHONE, Company E came under an intense communist mortar attack. With complete disregard for his own safety, Sergeant Rodriguez-Morales moved through the shrapnel infested area directing counter mortar fire on the enemy. Exposed to the deadly Viet Cong weaponry, he was seriously wounded by an impacting round. His valorous actions contributed immeasurably to the defeat of the insurgent force and success of the mission. Sergeant Rodriguez-Morales’ personal bravery, aggressiveness, and devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, the 25th Infantry Division, and the United States Army.
