Headquarters, 1st Infantry Division, General Orders No. 1 (January 2, 1946)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Patrick Felaccio (ASN: 31458297), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company L, 3d Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in the vicinity of Lemonfords, Germany, on 8 April 1945. When friendly assault craft were subjected to an intense enemy mortar and small arms barrage during a river crossing, Private Felaccio, with utter disregard for personal safety, dour crossed perilous terrain to an enemy-held building. Then, with accurate fire, he inflicted severe casualties upon the foe and silenced the hostile strongpoint, thereby enabling his comrades to reach shore without losses. Private Felaccio’s gallant actions and outstanding devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
