The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant [then Corporal] Robert E. Fuller (ASN: ER-13231348), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company L, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 30 July 1951 in the vicinity of Taeusan, Korea. On this date during an assault on enemy positions, Sergeant Fuller, platoon leader, continually exposed himself to intense enemy small arms, automatic weapons and grenade fire, in order to maintain maximum control over his platoon. Always with the foremost elements of his unit, Sergeant Fuller by his bravery and complete disregard for his personal safety so inspired his men that they overwhelmed the hostile forces from their positions. He then led his men in securing their final objective, completely overrunning enemy oppositions while inflicting numerous casualties upon them. The gallantry in action and outstanding leadership displayed by Sergeant Fuller on this occasion reflect great credit upon himself and the military service.
