The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Private Kemper Fuller (ASN: RA-15421767), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company A, 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in Korea. On 29 November 1950, near Majon-ni, Korea, Company A had the mission of contacting the 3d Republic of Korea Marine Battalion. En route along a narrow mountainous road the unit was suddenly subjected to heavy enemy small arms and automatic fire. Private Fuller immediately commenced returning fire with his automatic rifle and continued firing until his ammunition was expended. Although the area was completely open and exposed to heavy enemy fire, Private Fuller, with disregard for his personal safety, dashed from place to place searching for ammunition. During this action he was wounded in the stomach. Although suffering from extreme pain, he successfully located more ammunition, and refusing medical aid, commenced firing again. He continued to fire until he received a second, and fatal, wound. The courage and gallantry displayed by Private Fuller on this occasion reflects the highest credit upon himself and the military service.
