The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Master Sergeant Elmo L. Fuller (ASN: RA-39688100), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company E, 2d Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in Korea. On 27 November 1950, when his platoon was subjected to a heavy attack near Ipsock, Korea, Master Sergeant Fuller repeatedly exposed himself to concerted hostile fire to reorganize the dispersed elements of the platoon and established a firm defensive line. Although he was wounded during an ensuing mortar barrage, he declined evacuation. He continued to move among his men distributing ammunition and directing their fire until the enemy was repulsed. Master Sergeant Fuller’s gallant leadership, and staunch devotion to duty reflect great credit upon himself and uphold the highest traditions of the Military Service of the United States.
