The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Corporal Tilbert A. Fry (ASN: 39602760), United States Army, for gallantry in action at New Georgia, Solomon Islands, wherein he volunteered to lead a patrol on a demolition mission, opened accurate fire on the enemy, and then covered the withdrawal of the entire patrol at the cost of a serious wound to himself on 27 July 1943. Later, Corporal Fry died as a result of his wound.
