The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) to Sergeant Frank E. Anderson (Andrea) (ASN: 1244634), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company G, 111th Infantry Regiment, 28th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, at Crezancy, France, 16 July 1918. Sergeant Andrea was told by a runner that an enemy patrol had captured two ambulances containing American wounded on the road east of his position. He organized a relief party, personally commanded it, drove the enemy to rout, recovered the ambulance and the wounded men, and brought them back to our lines.
