The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Doyle Francis (ASN: 36070865), United States Army, for gallantry in action at New Georgia, Solomon Islands, when he made two trips in the face of hostile fire to evacuate wounded soldiers in spite of being wounded himself on 26 July 1943.
