The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Silver Star to First Lieutenant (Infantry) John Edmund Fox (ASN: 0-62392), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company G, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy on 27 March 1951 in the vicinity of Sinsegol, Korea. First Lieutenant Fox was leading his platoon against a well-entrenched enemy. Although an air strike and an artillery barrage had failed to dislodge the enemy from his positions, Lieutenant Fox so skillfully deployed his platoon that his men were within a few yards of the enemy before the latter observed them. With fixed bayonets, First Lieutenant Fox led his men in a final charge that routed the enemy. The platoon accounted for three enemy dead and one prisoner in this action. The gallant conduct displayed by First Lieutenant Fox reflect the highest credit upon himself are in keeping with the fine traditions of the military service.

    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to First Lieutenant (Infantry), [then Second Lieutenant] John Edmund Fox (ASN: 0-62392), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company F, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy on 16 September 1950. in the vicinity of Chobigok, Korea. First Lieutenant Fox was leading his platoon in support of the other platoons of the company in an assault upon hostile positions. Met by heavy enemy automatic weapons and small arms fire the lead platoons were brought to a halt on the ridge of a mountain. Resolutely and quickly grasping the initiative, Lieutenant Fox led his men in front of the skirmish line and, shouting encouragement to his men, directed intense fire upon the enemy strong points. Inspired by his example and daring courage and leadership, his platoon surged forward and rushed the enemy positions, First Lieutenant Fox personally killing three of the enemy and pinning others in their holes, which resulted in their capture. Though painfully wounded in both legs by an enemy grenade, he continued to rally his men to greater effort until the objective had been seized. The gallantry displayed by First Lieutenant Fox reflects the highest great upon himself is in keeping with the fine traditions of the military service.

    (Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, 20 July 1942, takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit to Lieutenant Colonel John Edmund Fox (ASN: 0-62392), United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as G-2 (Military Intelligence), XXIV Corps, in action against the enemy in the Republic of Vietnam from 1969 to 1970. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of Colonel Fox and his dedicated contributions in the service of his country reflect the highest credit upon himself and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Army.
