The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Captain (Armor) Kenneth W. Fisher (ASN: 0-887624), United States Army, for gallantry in action as Commanding Officer of Tank Company (Medium), 15th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in Korea. On 29 November 1950, near Majon-ni, Korea, Captain Fisher was leading a convoy which came under intense fire of automatic weapons and mortars from a well-entrenched and numerically superior enemy force. When the order to withdraw was given, Captain Fisher unhesitatingly volunteered to remain behind. Despite his complete exposure to the enemy fire and with utter disregard for his own personal safety, Captain Fisher calmly organized work parties and commenced loading the dead and wounded aboard available vehicles. In addition, under the direct supervision of Captain Fisher, many disabled vehicles were removed to clear the road. By his actions an untold number of men, wounded and unable to withdraw, were saved. Captain Fisher’s total disregard for personal safety, his willingness and initiative, and his gallantry in action reflects great credit upon himself and the military service.
