The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Soldier’s Medal to Private First Class Donald L. Fish (ASN: 36906435), United States Army, for heroism involving voluntary risk of life not involving conflict with an armed enemy, at Leyte, Philippine Islands, on 25 May 1945. When Sergeant Noonan walked into a high voltage line connecting the communications building with a radio antenna and fell unconscious across the line, Private First Class Fish, disregarding his own safety, pushed Sergeant Noonan free of the wire and dragged him to a safe area. Private First Class Fish’s quick thinking and prompt action in saving the life of his comrade exemplifies the highest traditions of the military service.
