The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Private First Class George Nolan Falvey (ASN: US-53037762), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company A, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 27 July 1951, in the vicinity of Taeusan, Korea. On that date, Company A was engaged in an attack against a well fortified enemy-held hill. Limited visibility, due to heavy fog, made it necessary for Private Falvey, a runner, to personally relay messages received to each platoon. Throughout the day he made his way from one unit to another under intense enemy mortar, grenade and small arms fire, to deliver the important information concerning the tactical operation of the company. He continued in this manner until he was fatally wounded by an enemy round. The gallantry and devotion to duty demonstrated by Private Falvey reflect great credit upon himself and the military service.
