(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Lieutenant Colonel Jack Pryer Williams (AFSN: 7053A), United States Air Force, for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving as Pilot of an RF-86A Reconnaissance Airplane of the 15th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron, 67th Tactical Reconnaissance Group, FIFTH Air Force, in aerial operations in Korea, on 27 June 1952. Lieutenant Colonel Williams volunteered to fly a very perilous reconnaissance mission near the Chosin Reservoir in North Korea. While flying at a low altitude to insure complete photographic coverage, Lieutenant Colonel Williams plane was hit by ground fire, but despite this, completely disregarding the danger to his own life, he continued to make his runs over target to complete his mission. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Lieutenant Colonel Williams, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
