(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918 (amended by an act of July 25, 1963), takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Silver Star to First Lieutenant (Infantry) Jones N. Epps (ASN: 0-60328), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company G, 187th Airborne Infantry Regiment, in action against the enemy near Wonju, Korea, on 14 February 1951. Despite a severe wound, he continued to lead his platoon in an assault against a well-fortified hill positions, and moved forward alone to knock out an enemy machine gun that threatened to stop the attack. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by First Lieutenant Epps, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
