The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant Euall D. Edward (ASN: RA-18005203), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company L, 3d Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in Korea. On 14 September 1950, near Sobuk-san, Korea, Sergeant Edward was in charge of a Korean carrying party on a trail subjected to observed hostile fire. When the carriers dispersed under an intense barrage of mortar and sniper fire, he quickly moved among the bursting shells rallying the party and retrieving the scattered supplies. Despite continuous enemy fire throughout the five hour trip, he maintained firm control over his men and effected the safe delivery of the critically needed supplies to his company. Sergeant Edward’s courage, resolute leadership and selfless devotion to duty reflect great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Armed Forces.
