(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Private Frank Earl, United States Army, was awarded the Soldier’s Medal for heroism involving voluntary risk of life not involving conflict with an armed enemy, at Espiritu Santos Island (South Pacific Area), on 9 October 1942. On that date, Private Earl, until driven away by extreme heat, worked valiantly to rescue the unconscious pilot of a crashed plane. The heroism displayed by Private Earl on this occasion reflects great credit upon himself and the military service.
