The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Air Commodore C. R. Dunlap, CBE (then group captain), Royal Canadian Air Force, for gallantry in action on many occasions from December 1942 to May 1945. During this time, Air Commodore Dunlap served as an air commander of units engaged in day and night bombings, which dealt effective blows against the enemy and cooperated with the air operations of the United States Army Air Forces in bringing hostilities to an early and successful conclusion.
