The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Glenn E. Duff (ASN: RA-19359422), United States Army, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in connection with military operations against the enemy while serving with Company K, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, on 18 May 1951, in the vicinity of Pungshon-ni, Korea. On that date Company K was in defensive positions and the enemy had overrun an outpost position forward of the lines. The company counterattacked, and all during the attack, Private Duff, heedless of the intense enemy small arms and automatic weapons fire, crept up on the enemy positions and threw fragmentation and while phosphorous grenades into them, inflicting heavy casualties and forcing the enemy to evacuate several of the positions. The gallantry and aggressive courage displayed by Private Duff reflect great credit upon himself and the military service.
