The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to First Lieutenant (Infantry) McClellan A. DuBois (ASN: 0-1325875), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company A, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy on 28 May 1951, in the vicinity of Hyon-ni, Korea. Company A was attacking well fortified positions under heavy enemy fire. Lieutenant DuBois, a rifle platoon leader, seeing that the situation was critical, with complete disregard for his own safety, exposed himself to the intense enemy fire to rally and encourage his platoon in the attack. Personally leading the assault against the enemy, he was responsible for the success of the company in reaching its objective. In the course of his courageous attack, Lieutenant DuBois fell mortally wounded. The gallantry and outstanding leadership displayed by Lieutenant DuBois reflect great credit upon himself and uphold the highest traditions of the Military Service of the United States.
