    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Brigadier General Frank Dorn (ASN: 0-15278), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving as Deputy Chief of Staff, U.S. Army Forces U.S. China-Burma-India Theater of Operations, in action against the enemy in Burma, on 23 April 1942. During an attack by the Chinese 200th Division on Japanese positions at Taunggyi, Burma, Brigadier General Dorn assisted the Chinese soldiers to hold off a group of Japanese in the jungle. He voluntarily exposed himself to great danger on the front lines which were under severe enemy fire. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Brigadier General Dorn, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
