The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Private First Class Henry Dominguez (ASN: RA-37718257), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company K, 23d Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy on 16 September 1950 in the vicinity of Singu-ri, Korea. On that day his company’s position was subjected to a fierce attack by numerically superior enemy forces. One of the company’s platoons was overrun and attempted to reorganize under heavy hostile fire. Private Dominguez immediately exposed himself to the withering enemy fire in order that he might move his machine gun to an alternate position from where he could cover the reorganization of the platoon. Although he became the center of the enemy fire, he remained in that exposed position laying down a base of fire until he was killed. His gallant action prevented further enemy penetration of the company’s line and gave the hard-pressed platoon sufficient time to reorganize for a successful counterattack. His gallantry reflects the highest credit upon himself is in keeping with the fine traditions of the military service.
