The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant Milner R. Dixon (ASN: RA-6386284), United States Army, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity as a member of Company B, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division in Korea. At 1400 hours on 24 July 1950, near Saugn-Yong, Korea, three enemy tanks placed direct fire on Sergeant Dixon’s 3.5 rocket launcher position for about thirty minutes; then at a range of two hundred yards the lead tank started heavy machine gun fire. Although he had but one round of rocket ammunition left, Sergeant Dixon rose up in the face of the concentrated fire, fired the round and scored a direct hit on the tank turret, thereby putting it out of action. Sergeant Dixon’s calm courage and soldierly ability reflect great credit upon himself and the military service.
