The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Sergeant First Class Floyd DeCorrevont (ASN: RA-35965876), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of the 25th Reconnaissance Company, 25th Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in Korea. On 1 October 1950, near Impa, Korea, when a friendly patrol was attacked by a powerful hostile force, Sergeant First Class DeCorrevont directed his tank forward to join the fight. Despite an intense enemy mortar barrage, he maneuvered his vehicle to provide a heavy volume of effective counterfire in support of the infantry troops. Skillfully moving his tank on a narrow, commanding ridge, he maintained devastating fire until the disorganized enemy fled, leaving numerous weapons and a vast store of ammunition behind them. Sergeant First Class DeCorrevont’s initiative, tactical skill and selfless devotion to duty reflect great credit upon himself and uphold the highest traditions of the United States Army.
