(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star (Army Award) to Corporal Richard Franklin Webb (AFSN: AF-12285096), United States Air Force, for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving with the FAR EAST Air Forces, in operations in Korea, in 1950 and 1951. Corporal Webb continued directing aerial strikes after his position was overrun by the enemy. Later, a North Korean soldier stood over him and fired a pistol at his head, the bullet glancing off a metal patch imbedded in his forehead after a traffic accident four years previously. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Corporal Webb, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
