The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant First Class [then Corporal] Daniel T. Dalton (ASN: RA-13293200), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company G, 2d Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in Korea. On 10 October 1950, near Poun, Korea, proceeding on a rescue mission, a patrol led by Sergeant First Class Dalton observed a large enemy force in a village. Skillfully deploying his men in concealed positions, he led them in a surprise attack which caused the enemy to flee and abandon large quantities of equipment. Sergeant First Class Dalton’s courage, resourcefulness and exemplary leadership reflect great credit upon himself and uphold the highest traditions of the United States Army.
