(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to First Lieutenant (Infantry) Stanley Warfield Crosby, Jr. (ASN: 0-50845), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company B, 5th Regimental Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in Korea on 10 August 1950. First Lieutenant Crosby volunteered to lead a patrol in action against the enemy and was killed while rushing a machine gun that had killed and wounded several members of his platoon. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by First Lieutenant Crosby, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
